Terror never gets old … get your copy of the Halloween Calliope!

Staff Reports

Thanksgiving is coming up, so it’s time to grab yourself a copy of the fall issue of Calliope, BHS’s magazine of student writing and artwork. Get your own copy from Mr. Matthiessen in room F14 for just $1.

The magazine editors once again selected the contents of this issue from among many contributions. “There was a lot of great artwork, it was hard that we couldn’t fit everything in,” said senior editor-in-chief Holly Fischer. “I hope even more students will contribute to our winter issue, which will come out just before Valentine’s Day!”

The current issue’s front cover features a jack o’ lantern illustrated by freshman Sophia Rasile, who also has an illustration on the back cover. The inside opens with a poem by senior Nishat Zahan and an arresting graphic by senior Kayda Tope. Inside the issue are poems by Maddie Patton, Stella Andresen, and Bidhee Thapa interspersed with artwork in varying media by Karma Do, Natasha Rodriguez, Ginger Fitzpatrick, Grace Grammatico, Noah Fischer, Mia DeLucia, Sabela Church, Destiny Alvelo, Mariah Fazzino, and Josie Kliucius.

“We received some striking submissions related to Halloween, but people shouldn’t be afraid to peek inside,” said club advisor Mr. Matthiessen. “There’s nothing too disturbing in there, and most of it is just beautiful artwork and poetry.”

Other Calliope staff include Mia DeLucia, Noah Fischer, Xavier Geissler, and Maddie Patton. If you’d like to contribute to Calliope or join the staff, keep an eye out for meeting times and deadlines in the Daily Announcements email, talk to a current staff member or Mr. Matthiessen, or join the Google Classroom with code j7v5c2l.
