Five Questions With … Carter Burgess

By Colin Donahoe

As part of a series, The Branford Buzz is asking teachers and students “Five Questions with…” to help the BHS community get to know one another and share ideas. This week’s feature is Senior Carter Burgess Carter, a talented woodworker and very devoted student. On top of that, Carter was also a captain of the BHS boys Cross Country Team and captain of the BHS Wrestling Team.

1. In your free time, what do you like to do?

In my free time I like to fish and spend time in the outdoors. I feel it gives me a deeper connection to nature and the world around me.

2. What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I plan to get my real estate license because I was unsure of what to do with my future and didn’t want to make a 4 year commitment I wasn’t sure about.

3. What will you miss the most about Branford High School?

I will miss the social interactions with kids and teachers who I probably won’t stay in touch with.

4. Any advice for new students at BHS?

My advice to BHS students is to not stress too much over classes. Give it a decent effort but don’t overload yourself and forget to have fun. It’s just school and it won’t matter in a few years.

5. What do you think should be changed or improved about the school?

Breakfast needs to be more available because I didn’t get to eat during winter and I planned on using that for my bulk but now I can’t, and I’m only 155 lbs. Id probably be at 170 lbs right now if breakfast could just have been open during passing time.
