Featured Teacher 2023: Amanda Anderson, school psychologist

By Lucy Peterson

As the school year turns to October, many members of the BHS community may have already had the opportunity to meet all the new teachers and staff at Branford High School. To help introduce the new staff to BHS, The Branford Buzz began featuring the new teachers last week. Over the coming days, The Buzz will be publishing Q & A interviews with all the new staff members.

Today’s feature is on Mrs. Amanda Anderson, who is the school psychologist.

Position: School psychologist

Classroom location: Guidance Department

Why did you become a school psychologist?

In college, I was unsure what to study but loved psychology so I graduated with my bachelors in psych and while deciding next steps, I began substitute teaching and really enjoyed working with students and replica name brand watches teachers. I then realized that I could continue with psychology in the school setting so I pursued a graduate degree in school psychology and here I am!

What is your background and how did you end up here at BHS?

I have recently relocated to CT from New Orleans, LA. I grew up in Clinton, CT but had been living in NOLA (New Orleans) for the past 5 years. I chose to work for BHS because of the sense of community and drive exhibited by the staff I met while interviewing.

What do you like about BHS?

BHS has been very https://www.hiltonheadvapes.com/product/hyde-retro-rave-disposable-5000-puffs-summer-luv/ welcoming!

Tell me about your family or your interests.

I have two boys (one 6 months old and almost 3 year old). I love to cook and anything outdoors including hiking, fishing, snowboarding, and camping.

My favorite book is The Alchemist because it serves as a reminder to trust yourself and go after whatever it is you truly want in life.
