A Taste of Romance And Poetry Awaits Readers of New Calliope

Special to The Buzz

Winter starting to feel long?

Calliope, BHS’s magazine of student writing and artwork, is here to give you a taste of romance and help chase away those long winter shadows. Get your own copy from Mr. Matthiessen in room F14 for just $1.

The issue’s front cover is a collage including a multimedia piece by Clare Barnett, a surreal drawing inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s Walden by Sabela Church, and a short poem by an anonymous contributor.

The following pages include an intricate book plate by Alya Bagdas, a surprisingly lovely rendition of a tick by Lizzie Axtell, and a fast-paced poem by Ryder Kropiwnicki about a mysterious encounter in the night. The issue includes a variety of poetry and prose writing, as well as photography, paintings, drawings, jewelry, and even some crochet, culminating with an arresting back-cover image by senior Evie Kaiser.

Other contributors include Belen Acevedo-Montenegro, Destiny Alvelo, Hunter DaRos, Mariah Fazzino, Noah Fischer, Katie Harmon, Sam Harwin, Hannah Jackson, Ava Juliano, Ella Kelly, Emma O’Connor, Isabel Osler, Matthew McNulty, Claudia Romano, Rowan Rondinone, Drew Schwartz, and Lia Steskla.

Calliope staff include Editor-in-Chief Holly Fischer, Mia DeLucia, Noah Fischer, Cecile Hazen, Hannah Jackson, Ian MacDougall, and Shanza Zaidi. Read about the last issue of Calliope here.
