Student Literary Magazine Available Now

The front cover of the summer 2022 edition of Calliope, the BHS literary and arts magazine.

The 47th issue of Calliope, BHS’s magazine of student writing and artwork, is now available electronically here, or you can buy a hard copy from Mr. Matthiessen in room F14.

This issue includes stories, poems, and artwork by 18 BHS students. These were chosen from among contributions by numerous other students.

This issue sets the mood with a delectable cover illustration by senior Aditya Rajpurohit and also includes the story of a young person’s maturation told from an unusual perspective by senior Sam Smith, a poem of love and loss by senior Isabela Whittaker, a variety of innovative photography by several students, and much more.

“We got a ton of great contributions, and it’s hard to choose,” said Rajpurohit, a senior co-editor-in-chief. “Unfortunately, we always have to leave out a lot of things we’d like to include.”

“We try to include a balance of kinds of writing and artwork, including poetry, stories, paintings, photography, digital graphics, and even doodles,” said senior co-editor-in-chief Sushant Kunwar. “The end product shows the amazing creativity among BHS students. I think it’s pretty impressive!”

Other Calliope staff include Holly Fischer, Cecile Hazen, Hannah Jackson, Gianna Jara, Dan Procaccianti, Alex Sweeney, and Shanza Zaidi.

Any student who would like to contribute to Calliope or to join the staff in the fall, should keep an eye out for meeting times and deadlines in the Daily Announcements email in the fall, talk to a current staff member, or talk to Mr. Matthiessen.
