Album of the Week: …And Star Power

Editor's note: The following is part of a regular feature in The Buzz spotlighting a new or interesting album.
By Luke Arsenault Group: Foxygen Album: …And Star Power Genre: psych-pop/experimental Bio: Jonathan Rado and Sam France formed Foxygen while in high school in 2005. Their indie rock style quickly became more experimental. This caught the eye of a producer in 2011 at one of their high energy performances (SInger France has been known to hit himself in the face with the microphone during performances). Their second studio album, …And Star Power, was released in October of this year and has already gotten lots of attention.
Luke’s Opinion: Foxygen describes their album as being, “a CINEMATIC AUDITORY ADVENTURE for the speedy freaks, skull krunchers, abductees, and misfits,” and they could not have been more correct. In order to get the most out of this album, 80 full minutes need to be cleared from the your schedule in order to accurately hear the flow of emotion. From chaotic highs to melancholy lows, this LP has every element to a great album. The raw vocals blend very well with the sporadic guitar and melodic pounding of the drums. Enjoy!
