It’s time to light up your jack o’ lantern, put on your Freddy Kruger hat, grab a few pumpkin-shaped Reese’s Cups, and sit down with the Halloween issue of Calliope, BHS’s magazine of student writing and artwork! Get your own copy from Mr. Matthiessen in room F14 for just $1.
The magazine editors once again selected the contents of this issue from among many contributions.
“It’s kinda difficult to fit in all students’ artwork and writing, which are deadly amazing,” said Editor in Chief Gabriela Silva. “I love every single piece that students hand in each issue. You might even say spook-tacular!”
This issue’s front color is a pen and watercolor illustration by senior Ginger Fitzpatrick, who has been a regular contributor to the magazine for several years. More Halloween-themed artwork appears on the back cover, including a wire sculpture by Wynter Parsons and a pen and ink drawing by Gabriella Morocho.
Inside, the magazine features a variety of writing and artwork. Some of the writing is short excerpts from seniors’ college essays, as well as poems and short memoirs.
Written work in the issue is by Alasdair Adsit, Evren Akin, Ishaan Bhawani, Saahil Bhawnani, Nate Durante, Aliza Giordano, Tate Jones, Gabby Silva, and Bidhee Thapa, The artwork in the issue includes paintings, photography, drawings, graphic design, jewelry, a hand-woven sweater, a fabric doll, and a childhood drawing engraved on a family headstone.
In addition to those named above, artwork in this issue includes work by Joey Arcangelo, Sophie Bolick, Dante Bunnell, Kylie Carlson, Jesse Clark, Stacia Comen, Noah Fischer, Guilianna Gambardella, Emilia Jeffery, Josie Kliucius, Sarah Kwadade, Julia McCauley, James Memmott, Gabriella Morocho, Favor Nwagboli, Titi Nwakalor, Wynter Parsons, Zak Pierret, Lillian Rank, Shayla Torres, Landon Watkins.
Other Calliope staff include Noah Fischer, Josie Kliucius, and Estelle Pechkis.
