Girl’s Soccer vs. Lyman Hall(3-0 W): On Monday, the girl’s soccer team took on Lyman Hall on the turf, defeating them for a shutout and the first Hornet victory of the week.

Contributing to the win was sophomore Kendall Infantino who curved the ball in from the right corner to score the first goal for Branford. Then, freshman Ava Ferrie scored as well as sophmore Nica Smith to create a 3-0 lead from Branford, all in the first half. Throughout the second half Branford did not allow any scoring from Lyman Hall, earning themselves a victory.

Volleyball vs. North Haven and Amity(L): On Monday the volleyball team went against North Haven, starting out rough but towards the end of the sets they were able to close the gap in points, continuously scoring. Yet, the girls weren’t able to overpower in time, resulting in a loss.

On Friday they took on Amity in which was also their “Pink Game” for Cancer Awareness. They started low on energy, but in the second and third set they came back and started with a lead but ended up losing closely in all three games.

Senior Katie Elmasry had very good plays defensively in the two games for Branford, and senior Celia Turbert had good blocking and hitting offensively for the Hornets.

Boy’s Soccer vs. Notre Dame(2-1 L): Against Notre Dame the boys took a bitter loss in a game they hoped to result victorious in.

Scoring for Branford was junior Ralph Ciarleglio off of a header, assisted by sophomore Sebby Verdesoto, after crossing and passing from Branford’s left attacking side.

The boys held a 1-0 lead until halfway through the second half when Notre Dame scored themselves, creating a tied game. They then followed up again with another goal, resulting in the end 2-1 score.

Girl’s Soccer vs. Shelton(3-1 L): The girls took a defeat against Shelton when they could not produce victory even with many opportunities.

The scorer from Branford was junior Alayna Boileau off of a free kick that hit off of an opponent and went into the goal. The girls play Lyman Hall next on October 21st.

Girl’s Swim vs. Foran(L): The swim team took a loss in a close meet against Foran. In the last event of the meet, the Hornets were only trailing Foran by eight or so points, yet were not able to produce a victory.

Despite the loss, again there were many girls with lifetime best swims in addition to season bests. A few of these girls were freshman Emma Hall in the 200 free, junior Katie Parsell in the 100 breast, juniors Shae Lepre and Delaney Cotter in the 500 free, junior and sophomore Annie Dendas and Juliana Torello in the 50 free, and junior and sophomore Sophia Esposito and Mareyna McCaughtry in the 100 free.

The girls will swim North Haven, home, on Monday the 21st of October for their senior day meet.

The girls had amazing passes and opportunities that payed off in the end.

Football vs. Bethel(27-0 W): Travelling to Bethel, the Hornets went into their territory and defeated them in an impressive game.

For the Hornets, senior Sean Kelly scored a touchdown twice, threw a touchdown pass to senior Cam Mills and a two point conversion to junior Spencer Lyon. Junior Kam Holmes also scored a touchdown, with a lot of rushing yards throughout the game. Mills and junior Nick Chieffo each had an interception, giving Branford further advantages throughout the game. The offensive line had really outstanding blocking, such as from junior Ryan Hanniford which contributed to the win.
