New Start for Ms. Robertson at BHS

By Danni Dunlop This school year at Branford high school we also have a new face in our English department, Ms. Sara Robertson. Like Ms. Loesche and Mr. Smith, she started teaching at BHS this year. As a student, she attended North Branford High School and University of Connecticut.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and education and also a masters in education. She decided that she wanted to become a teacher when she was 14 years old, freshman year. “My mom is an English teacher so I saw her doing it and I fell in love with it,” Ms. Robertson said. “I also love to read so I knew that I wanted to do something that involved English and teaching just seemed like the appropriate path.”

At BHS, she teaches 4 sections of American Lit. and a section of 9th grade english in room B20. She has many favorite aspects of teaching at BHS. “I just love the enthusiasm about learning,” Ms. Robertson claims.   She loves it when kids get excited, when they’re passionate about discussion, or when someone really loves a book. “It’s cool to have students who are genuinely interested,” she said. She also finds the staff to be awesome, she loves everyone she works with. “I work with the coolest people,” she said. For hobbies outside of school, she loves to kayak, knit, bake, read and is also a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan.
